…And We’re Back from the Festival!

Hello, everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful time on the Dean College Campus…many of the members of the Dean College theatre department had a wonderful time in Hyannis at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival!

Where to begin ?!

There were TONS of incredible workshops that we took part in, that spanned to all the aspects of theatre. This includes dance (a Fosse, Chicago the musical, and musical theatre jazz workshops to include a few), costuming, stage fighting, make-up, stage management, acting, directing, and choreographing…a lil’ something for everyone! And while all of this was happening, there were different competitions that everyone from the different colleges competed in – stage management, the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship, the Musical Theatre Initiative, directing…again, a lil’ something for everyone. AND, not only that, but there were also auditions for one-act plays and 10 minute plays, which three Dean students, Jillian Lyons, Jordan MacKenzie (an awesome alum!), and Sarah Kouhaila participated in!

WOW. That’s a lot of stuff!

So…let’s talk about winning stuff. Because us theatre kids were able to make Dean College proud by winning stuff (and who doesn’t love stuff?!) Chet Davino won a speech and articulation award for his incredibly beautiful speech on stage, fellow blogger Leilani Ricardo won a scholarship to the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s summer internship, I won “Best Comedic Actress” and am now moving on to the national competition for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship in Washington D.C., and Robert White placed in the Musical Theatre Initiative! Whoohoo! Lots of cool stuff happening for us, and all because we are following our dreams and doing what we love.

I personally want to thank Dean College, Paula Rooney, Linda Ragosta, and David Krasner for giving us all the opportunity to attend the festival…it was truly an incredible experience. And I also want to thank my amazing scene partner, Sean Morris, for being the most incredible, talented, and wonderful person/friend/partner EVER. I truly celebrate you!

AND NOW…SOME PICTURES !

We all won stuff! (We love stuff).

I was calling my mom and dad to tell them I’m going to Washington D.C. (Yes I am crying but it’s okay because I’m a big sap).

Me and my scene partner, Sean Morris, hugging for the first time after we found out we moved on! Out of around 215 nominees, they selected only 2 to go to Washington D.C…wowsies!

Until next time, folks!
